5 Songs for 5 Vibes

5 Songs for 5 Vibes

How we doing, fam?

I hope you're all enjoying these few early days of September! I'm all moved into my Boston apartment and ready to begin my graduate year at Boston University. So many new transitions happening all at once that my mood disorder is loving the gnarly wave of anxiety it's riding. But we're all good! We're keeping it in check over here.

I've been craving some fun, carefree writing on the blog lately. Taylor Swift's new album is out and it's so romantic I could melt into a puddle. I started an herb garden on my window sill and it's been less than a week, but all of my plant babies are still alive. I've been doing a lot of painting recently and flowers are a theme. Lot's of happy things!

So here's a fun post that will give you 5 songs to listen to when you feel yourself tapping into 5 different vibes that we all experience during the day-to-day grind.

Vibe #1 // Uncertainty, Nervousness

I woke up yesterday jumping into the stress of a transition to a new yoga studio while I'm living full time in the city. New instructors, new class structure, different type of yoga, new environment. Uncharted waters was the phrase that kept popping up in my head while I sipped my morning coffee before walking to the studio.

Song #1 // That's My Girl by Fifth Harmony

I threw this song on while I was brushing my teeth before I left for class, and it seriously pumped me up. I'm my mother's daughter, so I definitely get emotional whenever an opportunity presents itself to feel. When the chorus of this song dropped, I could literally envision the feeling you get when someone you admire thinks you're cool enough to throw out a "that's my girl!" when you're doing whatever it is you're best at. It was the encouragement I needed to get my butt out the door and the push I needed to put my yoga mat in the front row even though I had no clue what to expect.

Vibe #2 // Life is a Highlight Reel

Picture this. You wake up in the morning and the sun smiles and winks at you. You drink your favorite coffee at the perfect temperature before hopping into the best outfit in your closet. Even your underwear is coordinated. You're right on time and all of the red lights turn green as you cruise through the intersections on the way to work. You're smiling ear to ear, greeting strangers as they float past you while you skip down the street. Your life is like a protagonist's montage in a movie... your movie. Life is your movie and all is right in the world.

Song #2 // You Make My Dreams by Hall and Oates

This song literally never fails to make me smile. It's fun with notes of goofiness and lighthearted, carefree bliss. Hit play on this jam when you need a little extra dose I-can-do-anything! You can even dance along, just like this:

Vibe #3 // Excited, Anticipation

You are so ready to live your best life... whatever that looks like for you!

Song #3 // Jackie Chan by Tiesto & Dzeko ft. Preme & Post Malone

Whether you're pumped for the day ahead, hang time with your girls tonight, your bff's wedding, or even just to go to Starbucks alone, this song will have you feeling like you're about to party like left shark.

Vibe #4 // Sad Face Emoji, Gloomy

Maybe something's got you down in the dumps, or maybe it's raining outside and your vitamin D deficiency is catching up to you. Sometimes it feels good just to sit in the "blah" until it passes.

Song #4 // I'm in Love Without You by FINNEAS

The haunting gorgeous melodies of this song will echo in your head for an entire day and you'll be okay with it. So beautiful, so sad. Hits the spot just right. You have my full permission to vibe to it with all of the passion of a handsome Squidward...

Vibe #5 // Red Wine and Chocolate

It's definitely a vibe. If I have to explain it to you, maybe you should just skip this one...

Song #5 // Truth Hurts by Lizzo

I mean, obviously.
